On nourishing
A meal is not a transaction. It is a conversation between the land that grew it, the hands that prepared it, and the people who sat down together. At The Gathering Place, the land is not a metaphor. The kitchen sits inside a farming village in Shoolagiri, 70km from Bangalore. The rice grew in the fields you drove past to get here. We do not source ingredients. We know where they come from, because we can see it from the window.

Field Observation #001
Curcuma longa. Turmeric. Pulled from the ground four kilometres from the kitchen. The farmer's name is known. The soil is red laterite. The root was in the earth yesterday. It is in your food today. No supply chain. Just a road.
The distance between a seed and a meal is the same distance between a stranger and a friend.
